“Working towards an Arts Complex”
The recently constituted Kew Court House Arts Association Inc . is a key player supporting the impetus of the City of Boroondara in partnership with the Kew Historical Society Inc . for the restoration and the establishment of the precinct for community use with particular emphasis on creating a performance space in the Court House.
With a mission statement of:
“To provide space to produce and develop theatrical projects and the arts within the Kew Court House precinct, thereby providing an outlet for such activities that will be beneficial to the City of Boroondara in particular and the community in general .
and
To provide the facility for the training and development of theatrical practitioners in various art forms, in particular performance and allied mediums”.
…. the Association with it diverse membership of both Theatrical Companies and individual Theatrical practitioners together with the wide support of allied community bodies, will provide the nucleus for achieving a performance space of immeasurable significance within the City of Boroondara.
With no viable performing space for small companies currently available within the City of Boroondara and indeed within the neighbouring municipalities the creation of this space will provide a long awaited performance venue for the established amateur, fringe and community theatre groups based within the Boroondara municipality as well the wider community.
WHO WILL BENEFIT?
Beneficiaries of a Kew Court House Arts Performance Space will be the existing municipality based theatre groups: (in alpha order) A-Muse Theatre Group, Blue Chair Theatre, Boroondara Theatre Company Inc, Camberwell Youth Theatre Inc, Green Cyc Productions, The Small Theatre Company in the first instance while other community groups such as the Kew Philharmonic Society, the various Kew, Hawthorn and Surrey Hills Historical Societies would be among many within the community that would find the space and the adjoining rooms a cost effective and harmonious space in the pursuit of their charters.
With an agreed Statement of Purpose that benefits the Community the Kew Court House Arts Association as an incorporated body in accordance with the Associations Incorporations Act 1981, will work towards the formation of a Management Committee and facilitated by ongoing funding an on site Administrator and where appropriate House Management and Technical support thus maintaining maximum use of the venue by the Theatrical companies as well as a wide range of local community groups and other approved users.
The Kew Court House Arts Association Inc have the professional acumen to administratively develop and maintain the Kew Court House Arts Precinct as a whole, for the benefit of the community enhancing the investment that the citizens, through the City of Boroondara are making through the acquisition of the property.
MEMBERSHIP of THE ASSOCIATION:
The Association urges new Individual and Group/Company/Corporate Membership for either $15, $25 and $50 per annum. The advantages of Membership for Corporate/Performing Arts and allied Groups will be many, such as: - being a Foundation Member in the establishment of the Kew Court House as an Arts Complex
receiving regular issues of “Court Briefs”, the association's newsletter keeping you informed of the progress of the establishment of an arts space
a Member with the right to attend monthly General meetings with voting rights and be a voice in the way the Court House Precinct is developed
