Dear Friends of the Court House,

We have some exciting news for you. The original public entrance to the old Court House is now accessible, and the Restoration Committee has arranged a series of musical events to enable the public to experience the Court's interior, to enjoy the performances, and celebrate this important achievement.

We are fortunate that the Boroondara Council has enabled us to organise an awareness programme which will include musical entertainment three evenings a week organised by the talented Ms Robin Kelly, our events co-ordinator, from Canterbury. Seats for these events may be booked on: 9836 6589 or 0407 548 116.

The popular Historic Tour of the Kew Court House and historic Police Station will resume on the first Sunday of the month at 2pm and 3.30 pm, led by the Hon. Wendy Baden-Powell and George Fernando commencing Sunday, 5th, August. These will enable the public to also view the old Police Station, residence and cells which are otherwise inaccessible. Bookings: Margaret Robinson 9853 2539. (message) or Wendy Baden-Powell 9836 3558.

We were thrilled to hear the Scottish Fiddle Orchestra perform to an enthusiastic audience last Saturday. The audience all left with smiles on their faces Judy Turner has promised to return with her talented group of players in a short while, see our events listings.

Roger Clark's well known Big Band willl perform on Thursdays at 8pm, see our events listings.

The audience can now move freely between the Court House and the QPO in order to purchase refreshments to enjoy during the performance. The acoustics in the room are remarkable. This is a good sign for the future of the building in its new role as a centre for the arts and entertainment.

Please come along, bring your friends and be a part of these exciting new beginnings.

Your Sincerely,

Peter McIntyre
